Read between your lines
Your conversations tell a story you can't see from inside the relationship. Subtext shows you what's really there.
How it works
Three steps to clarity
Take the quiz
15 questions. Find out which relationship role you think you have.
Upload your chat
Bring a chat from WhatsApp, Telegram, Google Chat, or Gmail. Both sides. The real data — not what you remember.
Get your story
AI reads thousands of messages and tells you the story your relationship actually told.
WhatsApp, Telegram, Google Chat, Gmail, SMS — bring whatever you've got. We read it securely and never share it.
A quiz tells you who you think you are.
Your messages tell you who you actually are.
That's the gap Subtext lives in. We start with perception, then hold it up against reality — thousands of messages, years of patterns, the story you couldn't see from the inside.
Why I built this
I built Subtext after a breakup that left me not trusting my own read on what happened.
My version was too kind to me. My ex's blamed me for everything. My friends were on my side no matter what. I wanted a true north — one honest, outside read on the whole thing. So I built one.
— Chris, founder
What you get
The whole story — and the receipts
Upload one past relationship. Subtext reads every message and hands you back something you can actually sit with.
Your story
The whole arc, written out
Subtext reads every message and writes the story back to you — the early pull, the turn, the ending — in chapters, each with its own image and the real moments quoted. Not your memory of it. What actually happened.
The soundtrack
A soundtrack for the whole thing
The songs that score each chapter of the relationship, pulled together on Spotify. Even the free snapshot comes with an anthem. Press play on what it felt like.
Talk it through
Ask the questions you never got to
Talk to an AI that's read every message and answers in their reconstructed voice — with Subtext's honest read beside it. The conversation you didn't get to finish. 15 free messages included with every deep dive.
Common Threads
The patterns you repeat
Read a second relationship and Subtext surfaces the threads you carry into all of them — the type you reach for, the move you always make. The part you can't see from inside any single one.
The patterns you missed
What you couldn't see from inside
Who pursued, who pulled away, where the power sat, the week it shifted — scored across four dimensions and flagged with evidence. Once you can see them, the patterns name themselves.
By the numbers
The receipts, quantified
Who reaches first, response times, emoji and double-texts, the busiest day, the longest silence — every number from the full history, computed on your device. Free, before you pay for a thing.
